November 28, 2014 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Binghamton Senators News Release
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators scored four unanswered goals in the third period to complete a come-from-behind win over the host Syracuse Crunch. Cole Schneider and Shane Prince each notched a pair of goals to lead the B-Sens to its first win over the Crunch this season in three games.
Binghamton opened the scoring 8:16 into the first off of Schneider's first tally of the night. Aaron Johnson sent a slap shot towards Syracuse's Kristers Gudlevskis that was fought off originally, but Schneider alertly sent home the loose puck in the crease for his fifth of the season. Schneider made it 2-0 just over two minutes later when he redirected another shot from Johnson that found the back of the net.
Despite the strong start, the Crunch came storming back as Philippe Paradis scored three straight goals just over five minutes apart to give Syracuse the 3-2 lead after 20 minutes of play. Paradis first came 11:10 into the first when he picked up a loose rebound in front of the B-Sens' Chris Driedger and sent it home for his third of the year. Just over two minutes later, Paradis notched his second after beating a B-Sens defensemen down low on a breakaway. Paradis completed the natural hat trick on a short-handed penalty shot after being tripped on a breakaway with less than five minutes remaining in the first.
After a wild first period, the teams held one another in check as Driedger turned aside all six Crunch shots faced while Gudlevskis stopped all nine B-Sens chances to keep the score frozen 3-2 heading into the final period.
Binghamton made it a 3-3 game when Prince scored his first of the night 1:50 into the third. Prince regained the lead for the B-Sens with his second of the night on a wrap-around try at the eight minute mark of the frame to make it 4-3. Derek Grant notched his sixth of the year with less than three minutes remaining to give Binghamton the two-goal lead before David Dziurzynski got his first of the season on an empty-netter with 46 seconds remaining to move the final to 6-3.
Driedger, making his first American Hockey League start, stopped 25 of 28 shots faced for the victory while Gudlevskis turned aside 27 of 32 shots faced in the losing effort.
