Monsters Down Bulldogs 4-2

CLEVELAND, OHIO - Hamilton Bulldogs forward Charles Hudon and defenceman Magnus Nygren each had two points, but that wasn't enough as the 'Dogs (8-9-2-0) fell 4-2 to the Lake Erie Monsters (6-8-1-2) on Friday evening at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.

Lake Erie forward Joey Hishon gave the Monsters a 1-0 lead with a slap shot that beat Hamilton goaltender Mike Condon at 1:52 of the first period. Forward Troy Bourke and defenceman Markus Lauridsen drew assists.

Monsters forward Mike Sgarbossa put his club ahead 2-0 with a backhand shot that beat Condon high at 4:40 of the second period. Assists on the play went to forward Andrew Agozzino and defenceman Maxim Noreau.

Less than three minutes later, Sgarbossa scored his second of the night to make it a 3-0 game, with assists from forward Colin Smith and Lauridsen.

At 13:59 of the second period, Bulldogs forward T.J. Hensick got Hamilton on the board with his fourth goal of the season, assisted by Nygren and Hudon. With the goal, Hensick extended his current point streak to six games.

With just under two minutes to play in the second period, Nygren closed the gap to 3-2 with a slap shot on the power play for his fourth goal of the season. Hudon and forward Nick Sorkin had assists on the play.

Hishon notched his second goal of the evening 1:29 into the third period to put the Monsters ahead 4-2, with assists from forward Paul Carey and Bourke.

Condon ma de 35 saves on 39 shots for the Bulldogs in the loss, while Sami Aittokallio stopped 28 of 30 shots faced for the Monsters in the win.

Hamilton went 1-for-2 on the power play, while Lake Erie was 0-for-4 with a man advantage.

The Bulldogs return to action tomorrow when they host the Monsters at FirstOntario Centre at 7 p.m.
