
'Dogs Score Three Unanswered to Top Monsters 4-3 in OT

HAMILTON, ONT. - Hamilton Bulldogs forward Charles Hudon scored his second overtime game-winning goal of the season to lift the 'Dogs (9-9-2-0) to a come-from-behind 4-3 win over the Lake Erie Monsters (6-8-2-2) on Saturday evening at FirstOntario Centre.
Lake Erie forward Reid Petryk opened up a five-goal first period just 2:44 into the game, with an assist from forward Michael Schumacher.
Four minutes later, Monsters forward Troy Bourke put his club ahead 2-0 with a shorthanded, unassisted marker.
Just 1:02 after that, Bulldogs forward Christian Thomas got Hamilton on the board on the power play with his fifth goal of 2014-15, with assists from defencemen Nathan Beaulieu and Greg Pateryn.
Schumacher made it 3-1 for the Monsters at the 14-minute mark of the opening period, assisted by Petryk and defenceman Stefan Elliott.
With just 16 seconds to go in the first frame, Hamilton forward Jacob de la Rose got the 'Dogs back to within one with his third goal of the season, assisted by defenceman Jarred Tinordi.
After a scoreless second period, Bulldogs forward Daniel Carr tied the game 3-3 at 9:15 of the third period with his fourth goal of the season, unassisted.
At 5:51 of the overtime period, with the 'Dogs on the power play, Hudon buried his seventh goal of the season to cap off the victory. Beaulieu and Thomas collected assists.
Joey MacDonald ma de 19 saves on 22 shots for the Bulldogs in the win, while Sami Aittokallio stopped 41 of 45 shots faced for the Monsters in the loss.
Hamilton went 2-for-9 on the power play, while Lake Erie was 0-for-2 with a man advantage.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Tuesday, Dec. 2 when they'll visit the Adirondack Flames at Glens Falls Civic Center in Glens Falls, N.Y. at 7 p.m. The 'Dogs return home on Friday, Dec. 5 when they'll host the Toronto Marlies for Military Appreciation Night at FirstOntario Centre at 7:30 p.m.
