Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - Rookie goaltender Matt Murray collected his second shutout of the season as he made 22 saves in leading the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 1-0 win over the St. John's IceCaps on Friday at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza.

Murray was able to out duel the IceCaps' first-year netminder, Connor Hellebuyck, who was making his ninth consecutive start and came into the contest having won five straight. The two goalies held the opposition off the board for two periods as both teams were unable to convert on their two power play chances.

It was during their third man-advantage of the game that the Penguins broke the scoreless tie. Jean-Sebastien Dea floated a wrist shot from the center blueline that sneaked through traffic and past Hellebucyk at 3:59 of third period. The goal was Dea's fourth on the power play and six overall this season. Tom Kostopoulos and Derrick Pouliot provided the assists.

St. John's could not convert on a 5-on-4 opportunity later in the period and was unable to get the puck past Murray late in regulation while skating with the extra attacker.

Murray raised his 2014-15 record to 5-4-1. Hellebuyck made 24 saves on 25 shots as the IceCaps' seven-game point streak came to an end.

Individual tickets for all Penguins home games are available at the Mohegan Sun Arena Box Office, online at TicketMaster.com, or by calling 800-745-3000.

Penguins season tickets, including full season, 22-game, 12-game and 10-ticket flex vouchers, are available directly through the Penguins ticket offices at 570-208-7367.

NOTES: Pouliot has recorded points in all nine home games he has played in this season, compiling two goals and nine assists, and is tied for the longest active home point streak in the AHL.
