
Sharks Send Big Crowd Home Happy with 5-2 Win over the Bruins

Worcester, MA.- The Worcester Sharks (9-8-2-0, 20pts) exploded for four second period goals on their way to a 5-2 victory over the Providence Bruins (9-9-2-0, 20pts) in front of 5,251 fans at the DCU Center on Saturday night.
Five different goal scorers lit the lamp for Worcester while JP Anderson made 22 saves in net as the Sharks snapped a six game losing skid. 13 different players recorded a point for Worcester led by Evan Trupp (1-1-2) and Ryan Carpenter (0-2-2) while Malcolm Subban allowed five goals on 32 shots in net for the Bruins as Providence dropped their 4th straight game (0-3-1-0).
In took just 11 seconds in for the Bruins to strike first as Brian Ferlin (4th) banged home a loose rebound past JP Anderson to put Worcester down 1-0 early. The Sharks tied the score at 8:41 with Jeremy Langlois (4th) finishing off a 3-on-1 rush after a great feed by Adam Burish. Providence went ahead 2-1 with a power play goal after a goal mouth scramble as Craig Cunningham (5th) was able to jam home a loose puck at 16:37. The Sharks trailed 2-1 after 20 minutes as the Bruins held a 14-8 shot advantage.
The Sharks exploded for four goals in the second period to take a 5-2 advantage into the second intermission. Travis Oleksuk (1st) tied the score at 1-1 after he fired home his first of the season after a great pass from on top of the crease by Ryan Carpenter. Evan Trupp (4th) scored in his second straight game to break a 0-for-24 streak on the power play at 3:49 to put the Sharks ahead 3-2. Matt Taormina (3rd) sent a blast from the center point through traffic and past goaltender Malcolm Subban at 10:09 on the power play to put Worcester up 4-2. Micheal Haley (6th) finished off a nice 2-on-1 rush after a terrific feed by Chris Tierney at 18:33 for the 4th goal of the second period. Worcester outshot Providence 20-4 in the second period and took a 5-2 lead into the second intermission.
The two teams combined for just 10 shots in the third period as the Sharks cruised away with a 5-2 home victory over the Bruins.
The Sharks overall record improves to 9-8-2-0, 20pts, and 6-4-2-0, 14pts on home ice this season

Worcester went 2-for-4 on the power play while Providence went 1-for-2...Petter Emanuelsson (inj), Nick Jones, Rylan Schwartz, and Jimmy Bonneau did not dress for Worcester...Matt Tennyson and Troy Grosenick are still on recall with the SJ Sharks..... the Sharks had killed off 17 consecutive power plays before the power play goal by Cunningham in the first period.... After not scoring a power play goal on 24 straight chances, the Sharks scored on back-to-back power plays in the second period...it was the first time all season the sharks scored two power play goals in a game.... Worcester had an AHL low seven second period goals in their first 18 games, but scored four second period goals tonight on 21 shots... Evan Trupp has a two game goal scoring streak (2-1-3)....Micheal Haley leads the club with six goals.
