Dogs Pop Two More Homers, Fall Again to Wichita 5-2

Chicago Dogs News Release
Rosemont, Ill. - Rubi Silva and Tony Rosselli homered, but a four-run Wichita first inning was too much for the Dogs to overcome, as Chicago lost to the Wingnuts 5-2 on Bark at the Ballpark night at Impact Field.
Six of the game's seven runs came via the long ball, as an Angel Reyes three-run homer in the top of the first proved to be the difference for the Wingnuts in their second straight victory over the Dogs.
The home run came in the first at-bat as a Wingnut for Reyes, and was followed immediately by a John Nester big fly to push Wichita in front 4-0 before the Dogs even came to the plate. Both home runs were hit off Chicago starter Scott Barnes, who has now allowed 13 home runs in 69 innings this year.
Barnes settled in nicely after the turbulent first, but was charged with the loss Tuesday, pitching six innings, and allowing five runs on four hits and six walks.
The four-run cushion proved to be plenty for Wichita starter Charlie Gillies, who pitched seven innings allowing two earned runs to earn his sixth victory of the season.
Chicago received a solo home run from Silva in the bottom of the fourth inning, and another solo home run from Rosselli to lead off the bottom of the fifth, but tallied only four more hits throughout the rest of the game. The home run for Silva, which was his second in a Dogs uniform, extended his hitting streak to 12 games.
Seth Harvey pitched the final two frames scoreless for Wichita, allowing just two baserunners to earn his second save of the year.
Chad Girodo and Rich Mascheri pitched three perfect innings in relief for the Dogs. The Chicago bullpen has now worked eight scoreless innings to begin the series.
The loss drops the Dogs to 26-42 on the season, while the Wingnuts move to 43-25 on the year with the win.
The two teams will be back in action tomorrow on a Wiener Wednesday at Impact Field. Trevor Simms takes the mound for the Dogs, while Tyler Kane gets the nod for Wichita.
Tickets to the game are available in line at the Impact Field Ticket Office, and online at www.thechicagodogs.com/tickets/
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The game will be broadcast at www.thechciagodogs.com/broadcasts/ with the Crowne Plaza Pregame Show beginning at 6:45 p.m.
