Sioux Falls Canaries News Release

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - An early lead, missed opportunities loomed large as Sioux Falls lost the series opener to Kansas City 8-4. After falling behind by as many as five runs in the first two innings, the game-tying run came to the plate twice in the eighth, but each time ended in a strikeout.

Sioux Falls fell behind 3-0 early after allowing three hits and an error in the first inning.

The Canaries responded in their half of the inning when Mike Hart scored on Jabari Henry's RBI single.

Three more runs came across for the T-Bones in the second, all on home runs. Two scored via a Mason Davis homer, the third thanks to a solo shot from Colin Walsh. Sioux Falls again responded with a run in the bottom half when Hart drove in Mitch Glasser with an infield hit to put the score at 6-2.

A sacrifice fly in third gave Kansas City a 7-2 advantage, but Sioux Falls inched closer with a pair of runs in the sixth. Patrick Fiala and Mitch Glasser each singled home a run in the inning.

Alay Lago got a run back for Kansas City in the seventh, giving the T-Bones an 8-4 lead with a solo home run.

The Canaries loaded the bases with one out in the eighth, bringing up Hart as the tying run. But the Birds failed to score in the inning after Hart and David Bergin struck out.
