Cleburne Railroaders News Release
CLEBURNE, Texas - John Hayes drove in his first professional RBI with a groundout in the 6th inning, but Cleburne lost its 12th consecutive game in a 11-5 defeat to the Gary SouthShore RailCats at The Depot on Monday night.
Hayes entered into the lineup after Levi Scott was pulled from the game in the 5th inning, forcing Cleburne to forfeit the DH when Patrick Palmeiro moved to first base.
Cleburne starting pitcher Patrick Mincey fell to 0-8 on the year after conceding nine runs - six earned -- on 14 hits over 4.1 innings of work.
The RailCats swept the five-game series, outscoring Cleburne 52-23, and sweeping the seven-game season series.
Levi Scott opened the scoring with a two-run homer - his third of the series -- in the 1st inning.
The RailCats then scored nine unanswered runs, including a five-run fifth inning that chased Mincey from the game.
Ronnie Mitchell went 5-for-5 with three runs scored, and Tillman Pugh went 4-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored. Garrett Copeland hit a two-run homer with three strikeouts, and Wilfredo Gimenez went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI.
Trevor Sealey went 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored, and K.C. Huth went 1-for-3 with his second homer of the year.
Cleburne gave up 19 hits and 67 hits for the series, and has now lost 15 of the last 16 games.
