Oklahoma City Comets News Release

Las Vegas, Nev. - The Las Vegas Aviators swatted three home runs and scored six runs between the fifth and sixth innings to take control of the game and defeat the Oklahoma City Dodgers, 10-5, Saturday night at Las Vegas Ballpark.

After winning the first two games of their current road trip out west, the Dodgers have now lost three straight and have allowed at least 10 runs in each game.

The Dodgers (51-60) took the early lead. Edwin Rios started the scoring with a solo homer in the first inning, marking his eighth homer in the last 12 games.

The Aviators (64-47) responded and tied things up in their first at-bat, loading the bases with none out, but were held to one run on Seth Brown's sacrifice fly.

Las Vegas scored three runs in the second inning, getting their first run on a fielding error by center fielder Shane Peterson during a double hit by Trace Loehr. Eric Campbell followed with a two-run homer to make it 4-1.

Austin Barnes cut the lead to 4-3 in the third inning, teeing off a two-run homer, as he went deep for the second consecutive game.

But that's as close as the Dodgers would get, as the offense stalled over the next few innings. Following Barnes' home run, the Nashville pitching staff retired 14 of OKC's next 15 batters, including 11 straight at one point.

Meanwhile, the Aviators offense built a seven-run lead through six innings, starting with four runs in the fifth. Seth Brown smacked a two-run homer, and Eric Campbell later added a two-run single.

A solo homer by Sheldon Neuse and a RBI single by Skye Bolt stretched the lead to 10-3 in the sixth inning.

RÃ-os collected a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning, and the Dodgers entered the ninth inning down by six runs. OKC put the pressure on, with four of the first five batters reaching base, including a RBI single by Jake Peter.

With the bases loaded and tying run on deck, Las Vegas reliever Miguel Romero struck out Gavin Lux and got Barnes to pop out and end the game.

Aviators starting pitcher Paul Blackburn (9-3) allowed three runs and six hits over six solid innings with no walks and two strikeouts to earn the win. He finished his outing by retiring 11 of the last 12 batters he faced.

Rob Zastryzny (3-4) made his first start with OKC in about one month and took the loss. The lefty surrendered eight runs, tying his season high, and seven hits over 4.1 innings. He finished with five walks and no strikeouts.

The Dodgers will try their luck against the Aviators next at 9:05 p.m. Central time Sunday. Live radio coverage of each game begins 15 minutes before first pitch on AM 1340 "The Game," 1340thegame.com and through the free iHeartRadio or MiLB First Pitch apps.
