Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL announced today that Las Vegas rookie defenseman Jason Dest has been added to the National Conference roster for the 2008 Chase Chevrolet ECHL All-Star Game presented by Jackson Rancheria and Bud Light.
Hosted by the Stockton Thunder and the City of Stockton at Stockton Arena, the 2008 Chase Chevrolet ECHL All-Star Game presented by Jackson Rancheria and Bud Light will be played on January 23rd with the 11th edition of the Chase Chevrolet ECHL All-Star Game Skills Competition being held on January 22nd.
The 23-year-old Dest replaces teammate Tyson Strachan, who is playing in the American Hockey League with Peoria. He ranks fifth on the Wranglers in plus-minus rating with +12 and has been even or better in 23 of his 28 games played. Dest, who attended training camp with Manitoba of the AHL, played four seasons at the University of Michigan where he had 35 points (5g-30a) and 152 penalty minutes in 164 games from 2003-07. Dest ranks tied for sixth all-time on the University of Michigan's career games played list.
Dest will be joined by Wranglers Head Coach Glen Gulutzan, who will lead the National Conference for the third straight year (an ECHL record for appearances). Goalie Daniel Manzato and National Conference Captain Peter Ferraro will also participate in the Chase Chevrolet 2008 ECHL All Star Game.
Las Vegas heads out on four-game road trip starting tonight at 7:00 pm in Bakersfield. Las Vegas will stop in Stockton for two games and one in Utah before returning home on Saturday, January 26th to host Utah at 7:05 pm.
