Trenton Devils News Release
TRENTON, NJ (January 18, 2008) - The Trenton Devils had the game where they wanted it--tied in the third period with momentum in their corner-but outstanding netminding by Jonathan Quick would spoil their night as Reading skated to a 3-1 win. Matt Radoslovich scored the lone goal for Trenton, an equalizing tally which would be his first of the season.
Radoslovich's shot came 1:07 into the third period, after Trenton had been trailing 1-0 for most of the game. After Devils defenseman Zach Tarkir fired a shot from the top point, the third-year forward reached out to deflect the puck past Quick's stick side.
It would be Radoslovich's third point of the season (1g, 2a); Tarkir and Tony Zancanaro both gained assists on the play.
The Devils found themselves in a tough hole due to a wide-angle shot from Steven Later in the first. On the power play, Later created a third-chance opportunity on a flying puck along the goal-line. Knocking the puck out of the air, Later threaded the puck between the posts behind Caruso.
Two minutes after Radoslovich's equalizer, Trenton found itself behind again on Reading's second power play, when Brock Hooton gained his 14th of the season. Hooton would also knock in an empty netter to finalize the score at 3-1.
Trenton remains in fifth place in the North Division; Dayton's loss to Johnstown leaves the Devils eight points behind the Bombers and two ahead of the Chiefs.
The Trenton Devils continue their homestand by hosting the Dayton Bombers at Sovereign Bank Arena Saturday, January 19 at 7:00pm. Tune into WTSR 91.3 or go online to www.trentondevils.com and listen or watch live courtesy of B2 Networks.
