Johnstown Chiefs News Release
Johnstown, PA- The defending American Conference Champion Dayton Bombers found themselves on the wrong end of a 5-1 final score Friday night at the Cambria County War Memorial at the hands of the Johnstown Chiefs.
The game would begin with a bang for the Chiefs as they scored the game's first goal just 59 seconds into the first period. Dayton forward Grant Goeckner-Zoeller scored the tying goal less than a minute later at the 1:38 mark, his fifth goal of the season, with Chanse Fitzpatrick and defenseman Mike Campaner notching the assists. Unfortunately, this was the only point Dayton could muster in the contest as Johnstown ultimately scored four unanswered goals (two in the first (6:40, 9:03), one in the second (2:55) and one in the third (19:36)) to carry the win after sixty minutes.
In addition to the win, Johnstown out shot Dayton 41-23 with the Chiefs Ryan Nie picking up the win with 22 saves and Dayton's Jeremy Duchesne the tough loss in net making 36 saves.
The Bombers continue their weekend road trip on Saturday with a 7:00pm face off with the Trenton Devils and on Monday at 1:00pm against the Reading Royals. Fans can tune into the home team's webcast via b2 networks at echl.com, daytonbombers.com and b2livetv.com starting ten minutes prior to face off.
