Desbiens Assigned from Chicago

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that forward Guillaume Desbiens has been assigned by the Atlanta Thrashers to Gwinnett from the Chicago Wolves of the AHL.

Desbiens, who has notched 2 goals and 1 assist in 23 games for the Wolves this season, will make his first appearance in Gwinnett and in the ECHL since his rookie year.

During the 20050-06 season, Desbiens split time between Gwinnett and Chicago. The Alma, PQ native tallied 33 goals and 27 assists in 65 games for Gwinnett that season, also playing in 7 games with the Wolves.

Desbiens played all of the 2006-07 season with the Wolves, totaling 9 points on 3 goals and 6 assists in 54 contests.

Desbiens will be available for the Gladiators tonight as they host the Texas Wildcatters at 7:35 pm at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.

The Gladiators continue their fifth anniversary season on Saturday, March 1st as they play host to the Texas Wildcatters at 7:35 p.m. at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. Catch all the play-by-play action in Friday's game online via AccessNorthGa.com on Access Radio streaming channel 3.

Celebrating its 20th Anniversary as the Premier 'AA' Hockey League in 2007-08, the ECHL began in 1988-89 with five teams in three states and has grown to be a coast-to-coast league that has 25 teams in 17 states and British Columbia in 2007-08. The 25 teams includes the Mississippi (Biloxi) Sea Wolves, who return after missing two seasons in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and the expansion Elmira (N.Y.) Jackals. The ECHL will play 900 games beginning Oct. 18 and concluding Apr. 5.
