Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

FRESNO, California - The Cincinnati Cyclones extended their ECHL record winning streak to 17 games with a 2-1 win at Fresno on Friday night. The Cyclones finish the month of February with a perfect 13-0 record. David Desharnais netted a goal and added an assist in the triumph. It was the 19th come-from-behind win for Cincinnati this season.

Fresno scored the lone goal of the first period with 18 seconds remaining in the frame. Defenseman Joe Van Culin snapped a shot from the blueline for his third goal of the season. Igor Gongalsky picked up the puck in the right corner and fed it to the center point where Van Culin fired the shot. Matt Stefanishon had the other assist on the score. The Falcons are 20-1-5 when scoring the first goal of the game.

The Cyclones netted the only goal of the second period to level the scores at 1-1. Rookie defenseman Sean Perkins charged down the right wing side as David Desharnais slid the puck to him from behind the net. Perkins one-timed the shot over the glove of Jake Moreland to tie the game. Thomas Beauregard added the other assist.

Desharnais recorded an assist for the 20th consecutive game (4-31-35 points), extending his ECHL record. Peter Kasowski of Roanoke Valley, previously held the record at 17 games from Oct. 26 through Dec. 7, 1991 (28 assists).

Desharnais stole the puck off the stick of a Falcons defenseman at the Fresno blueline and then beat goaltender Kris Mayotte at 14:01 with the game winning goal. It was his 15th goal of the season.

Max Daigneault stopped 27 shots in collecting his sixth win in seven decisions for the Cyclones.

The Cyclones began their 17-game winning streak against Dayton on Jan. 16 in a 3-2 win. The club has outscored the opposition, 68-27, during the run. It is the longest winning streak in ECHL history, breaking the mark set by Knoxville (1992-93) and Louisiana (2001-02).

For the first time in team history, the Cincinnati Cyclones are 34 games above .500, with a 42-8-3 record and sole possession of first place in the North Division-eighteen points ahead of second place Reading and Elmira. The triumph gives Cincinnati a 26-2-1 record since December 15. Fresno is 30-15-8. The 42 wins are the most ever by the club.

The Cyclones continue their California swing with a Saturday night visit (10:30pm ET) at Stockton. That game will be carried on 96 Rock, with the pregame show schedule to begin at 10pm.
