Jackson and Anderson Called up to AHL

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that defenseman Jimmy Jackson has been called up to the Peoria Rivermen of the American Hockey League and forward Matt Anderson has been returned from loan to the Chicago Wolves.

Jackson, fresh off of a 7-game tour with the AHL's Manitoba Moose, played just one game after returning to Gwinnett on Thursday as he posted a +2 rating in last night's 2-0 shutout win against the Columbia Inferno.

Anderson started his season with the Wolves before being loaned to Gwinnett from Chicago on December 13. Anderson played in 10 games for the Wolves before being sent to Gwinnett, notching an assist and compiling a +1 plus/minus rating.

In 29 games with the Gladiators this season, Anderson has posted 17 points on 9 goals and 8 assists.

Peoria will be the second AHL team in the last three weeks for Jackson who was called up to Manitoba on February 8. The Marquette, MI native played in seven games for the Moose, compiling a +2 plus/minus rating.

Prior to his call-up to Manitoba, Jackson had tallied 10 goals and 4 assists in 27 games for the Gladiators this season.

Jackson should be available for the Rivermen as they face off against either the Lake Erie Monsters on Saturday or the Rockford Icehogs on Sunday. Anderson will be available for the Wolves as they host either Milwaukee tonight or Providence tomorrow.

The Gladiators continue their fifth anniversary season on Saturday, March 1st as they play host to the Texas Wildcatters at 7:35 p.m. at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. Catch all the play-by-play action in Friday's game online via AccessNorthGa.com on Access Radio streaming channel 3.

Celebrating its 20th Anniversary as the Premier 'AA' Hockey League in 2007-08, the ECHL began in 1988-89 with five teams in three states and has grown to be a coast-to-coast league that has 25 teams in 17 states and British Columbia in 2007-08. The 25 teams includes the Mississippi (Biloxi) Sea Wolves, who return after missing two seasons in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and the expansion Elmira (N.Y.) Jackals. The ECHL will play 900 games beginning Oct. 18 and concluding Apr. 5.
