Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers announced today that defenseman Gord Baldwin had been recalled by the Quad City Flames of the American Hockey League.
Baldwin is in his first professional season and leaves the Wranglers after posting one assist and nine penalty minutes in 12 games with Las Vegas. The rookie defenseman started the season in Calgary Flames training camp. He was assigned to Quad City on September 19th, 2007 and has been with the Flames AHL affiliate most of the season. In 24 games with Quad City, the 6-foot-5, 210-pounder dished out two assists and accumulated 15 penalty minutes. The Winnipeg, MB native was drafted by the Calgary Flames in the third round (#69 overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Las Vegas will return home on Tuesday, March 4th at 9:05 pm to host Stockton. The game marks the beginning of a nine-game home stand for the Wranglers.
On Friday March 7th, the Wranglers will wear specialty jerseys that fans may bid on through a silent auction on the concourse. A portion of the proceeds collected from the jersey auction will be donated to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. As part of the Wranglers Community First Awareness Program, fans may purchase a special $25 package that includes a St. Baldrick's Foundation / Wranglers t-shirt as well as their ticket to that night's game. This package provides the greatest amount of return to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. A ticket only package is also available.
On Saturday March 8th, after the Wranglers host the Phoenix RoadRunners at 7:05 pm the team will head to McMullan's Irish Pub (corner of Tropicana Avenue and Cameron Rd.) within 30 minutes of the completion of the game. Nine different Wranglers have volunteered to shave their heads at McMullan's after the game. Jason Dest, Aaron Power, Daniel Manzato, Sean Owens, Adam Cracknell, Jason Jozsa, Brad Cole, Bruce Mulherin and Ryan Donally will have their heads shaved for charity. Front office employee Victor DeMarco will also shave his head. Fans and St. Baldrick's supporters may donate money to the cause by sponsoring a Wranglers player on the internet at www.stbaldricks.org. In order to make a donation in a player's name, fans may search under the first name by typing in "Wranglers".
