February 12, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The ECHL announced today that Condors LW Mark Derlago has been named the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for Feb. 4 - Feb. 10.
Derlago, 22, is the hottest goal scorer in the ECHL over the last month, and recorded nine points (7g-2a) last week in games against the first place Victoria Salmon Kings. His four goals on Feb. 5 tied a Condors single game record, and he became the first Condors player to score four times on home ice in team history. Three nights later he became the first Condors player to ever record back-to-back hat tricks, and added a pair of helpers for a five-point night.
Since Jan. 12 (a span of 12 games), Derlago has 17 goals and 21 points and now leads the Condors with 25 goals, which ranks fifth overall in the ECHL and second among rookies. He is also second among first-year players with 10 power play tallies. Derlago was named runner-up for the CCM Vector ECHL Rookie of the Month for January.
The Brandon, Manitoba native led the Western Hockey League with 46 goals last season, his final year of major junior hockey, before signing with the Condors over the summer.
On behalf of Derlago, a case of pucks will be donated to a Bakersfield area youth hockey organization by In Glas Co, the exclusive puck supplier for the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, In Glas Co has donated more than 18,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
The Condors are at home tonight against the Las Vegas Wranglers, game time is 7 p.m. Tonight's game features No Promotion, Sponsored by Nobody, the first time in Condors history there has never been a promotion for a game - just exciting Condors hockey against their rivals across the desert!
