Condors Derlago Named In Glas Co Player Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Bakersfield rookie left wing Mark Derlago is the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for Feb. 4-10.

The 22 year old had seven goals and nine points to help the Condors go 1-1-1 and continue to battle for the final Kelly Cup Playoffs berth in the National Conference.

After scoring a career-high and team record four goals, including two on the power play, in a 7-6 shootout loss to Victoria on Feb. 5, the Brandon, Manitoba native scored his second hat trick in a row and had a career-high five points in a 7-5 win against Victoria on Feb. 8. Derlago becomes the third ECHL player this season to score a hat trick in back-to-back games joining Tyler Haskins of Utah (Jan. 16 and 17) and Jean-Michel Daoust of Cincinnati (Dec. 16 and 19).

The 5-foot-11 and 197-pound forward is second among rookies and fifth overall with 25 goals while his 10 power-play goals are second among first-year players and tied for sixth overall. Derlago, who leads Bakersfield rookies and is tied for fourth on the team with 38 points in 45 games, has five multiple-goal games and 21 points (17g-4a) in the last 12 games during which the Condors are 6-3-3.

Prior to turning professional Derlago played three seasons with Brandon in the Western Hockey League where he had 162 points (82g-80a) and 110 penalty minutes in 209 regular season games and 13 points (8g-5a) and 14 penalty minutes in 28 playoff games.

On behalf of Mark Derlago, a case of pucks will be donated to a Bakersfield area youth hockey organization by In Glas Co, the exclusive puck supplier for the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, In Glas Co has donated more than 18,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
