Royals Acquire Defenseman Dave Pszenyczny

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, today announced that that the team has acquired defenseman Dave Pszenyczny ["shuh NICHE knee"] from the Alaska Aces for forward Brett Hemingway. Pszenyczny (6'0"/190) (22), a second year pro from Sterling Heights, Michigan, started this season with the Phoenix Roadrunners where he scored two goals, assisted on six others and picked up fifty-four penalty minutes in nineteen games. On December 14, 2007, Pszenyczny was traded to the Aces, where he has assisted on three goals and picked up forty-three penalty minutes in twenty-two games. Last year, Pszenyczny was selected to represent the Phoenix Roadrunners at the ECHL's All Star game in Boise, Idaho. While with Roadrunners in his rookie year, Pszenyczny scored five goals, assisted on sixteen others, and picked up 94 penalty minutes in forty-one games before suffering a season ending injury in February of 2007. Hemingway scored six goals and assisted on eleven others in twenty-eight games with the Royals after being acquired from the Fresno Falcons in late November.

The Royals return to action on Friday night (February 15; 7:05 pm), when the Dayton Bombers visit the Sovereign Center. That night, the Royals host "Guys Night," and the first 1500 men 21 years of age and older will receive a hockey puck beer bottle opener courtesy of Labatt Blue and All Star Distributing. The game night broadcast on Friday will begin at 6:35 pm with the pre-game warm-up show on ESPN Radio 1240 am in Ephrata, as well as on the internet through the Royals' website, www.royalshockey.com. Streaming video is available on a pay per view basis through the B2 Networks.
