Daavettila Named CCM ECHL December Player of the Month

LOVELAND, Colo. - Colorado Eagles forward Trent Daavettila has been named the CCM ECHL Player of the Month for December. It is the second time in his ECHL"ˆcareer that Daavettila has won the monthly award after also winning in February 2011 while with Kalamazoo.

Daavettila scored seven goals, added 14 assists and was a +8 in 13 games during the month.

After being held scoreless in the first two games of the month, Daavettila ended December by posting at least one point in each of the final 11 games. He had six two-point games and had back-to-back three-point efforts, recording three assists in a 4-3 shootout loss at San"ˆFrancisco on Dec. 21 and then tallying a hat trick in a 6-4 victory against the Bulls on"ˆDec. 22. He was named ECHL"ˆPlayer of the Week for the week ending Dec. 22 after posting eight points (4g-4a) in three games.

A native of Howell, Mich., Daavettila leads the Eagles, and is tied for second in the ECHL, with 36 points (12g-24a) in 30 games. His 24 assists are tied for the league lead, while he is tied for second with nine power-play assists and is tied for third with 12 power-play points.

Daavettila has 306 points (100g-206a) in 291 career ECHL games with"ˆColorado and"ˆKalamazoo and he has added 56 points (16g-40a) in 43 games during the Kelly Cup Playoffs. Daavettila also has seen action in 19 career American"ˆHockey League games with Adirondack,"ˆGrand Rapids and St. John's, recording four points (1g-3a).
