Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

READING, Pennsylvania - Michael Cohen was one of the last cuts from the Reading Royals during training camp this season and he made the deepest cut of all on the Royals in a 5-3 win for the Cincinnati Cyclones Friday night. It was Cohen's two first period goals that led the way in the victory.

The Cyclones got a pair of first period goals from second-year forward Michael Cohen in building a 2-0 lead. His first tally came with a shot from the slot 6:12 into the opening frame, as Ben McLeod and Barret Ehgoetz added the assists. The second score came at 18:06, as Cohen was camped at the top of the goal crease and took a feed from the right wing side. Matt Syroczynski and Mark Van Guilder handed out the assists. Cincinnati outshot Reading, 14-10, in the opening 20 minutes.

Cincinnati extended its lead to 3-0, when Olivier Latendresse netted his first score of the season on the power play 2:46 into the frame-Steve Makway and Jimmy Kilpatrick added the assists. A Brock Hooton power play goal at 9:47 reduced the lead to 3-1, but Kilpatrick's first goal as a Cyclone at 13:05 on the power play restored the 4-1 lead. Less than a half minute later Reading's Mac Faulkner stole a puck behind the Cincinnati net and was able to get to the front of the net ahead of Cyclones goaltender Loic Lacasse for his second goal of the season.

Reading closed the gap to 4-3, when Dan Rudisuela collected his second goal of the campaign at 10:18. An empty net goal from Latendresse, his second of the night-sealed the victory for Cincinnati.

Goaltender Loic Lacasse stopped 36 shots in collecting his first ECHL victory. Danny Taylor took the loss for Reading, turning aside 20 shots in the defeat.

The Cyclones are 1-3-1 on the season, while Reading is 1-4. The Cyclones are next in action on Saturday (Nov. 1) at Dayton at 7:30pm. That game will be carried on MAX-FM (97.7 and 99.5) and on the club's website: www.cycloneshockey.com.
