Salmon Kings Salute Canadian Forces

Victoria Salmon Kings News Release


Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that the team will honor the Canadian Forces with a Military Appreciation Night this Saturday!

The night will begin one hour before game time. Victoria area Army Reserve Units, Victoria's Naval Reserve Division HMCS Malahat and 443 Maritime Helicopter Squadron of Sidney will be on hand with displays of military equipment.

Accompanied by the Naden Band of Maritime Forces Pacific, Petty Officer 1st Class Mike Broadly will sing the Canadian and American National Anthems.

Right before the Victoria Salmon Kings and the Utah Grizzlies faceoff, the commander of Maritime Forces Pacific, Rear Admiral Tyrone Pile will be joined by Barbara Fosdick and Frank Pearson, both veterans of the Second World War and Afghanistan veteran Petty Officer 1st Class Dean Easton to drop the puck at a ceremonial faceoff.

The second intermission will feature the Pipes and Drums of the Canadian Scottish (Princess Mary's) Regiment.

Officers of the Reserve Force Cadet Instructors Cadre will be on hand with members of Royal Canadian Sea, Army and Air Cadets demonstrating the activities of the National youth organization.

The 50/50 proceeds for the night will go to the Military Family Resource Center.

The Salmon Kings and Utah Grizzlies hit the ice for the second game of their three game set tonight at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre with puck drop at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are still available call 250-220-7777.
