Dallas Stars Assign Goalie Brent Krahn To Las Vegas

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers announced today that goalie Brent Krahn has been assigned to Las Vegas by the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League. In a separate transaction, the team announced that defenseman Jim Jorgensen has been traded to the Gwinnett Gladiators for future considerations. The Wranglers host Stockton tonight at 7:30 PM at the Orleans Arena.

A sixth-year goalie, Krahn joins Las Vegas after spending five seasons in the AHL level with Quad City, Omaha, Lowell and San Antonio. Krahn signed with Dallas as a free agent after playing within the Calgary Flames system for his entire career. Krahn was drafted in the first round (#9 overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. The Winnipeg, MB native was assigned to the Wranglers as a rookie in 2003-04. The 26-year old played in 14 games with Las Vegas, going 7-5-2 with a 2.61 goals against average and a .925 save percentage.

Overall, Krahn has played in 169 pro games, with 155 coming at the AHL level. The former first round pick is 78-64-16 all-time with a 2.57 goals against average and a .913 save percentage. Krahn is 71-59-14 in the AHL with a career 2.56 goals against average and a .911 save percentage. Krahn has 11 career shutouts. In his best pro season, the Manitoban posted a 20-11-2 mark with a 2.49 goals against average and a .923 save percentage with Lowell in 2004-05. Krahn posted a career best six shutouts with the Lock Monsters in 2004-05.

Jorgensen played in four games for Las Vegas this season, collecting one assist and two penalty minutes. The Michigan native recently completed a four-year stint at Ferris State University. The 23-year old played for Las Vegas at the end of his college eligibility in late March. In eight games with Las Vegas, the first-year defenseman scored his first professional goal and assisted on two others totaling three points. Jorgensen posted a +4 in his short stint with the Wranglers. For his college career, the Sault Ste. Marie native posted 30 assists and 38 points in 114 games. The 6-foot, 200-pounder defender also racked up 54 penalty minutes. As a sophomore in 2005-06, Jorgensen set collegiate highs and was the team's leading scorer among defensemen with 15 assists and 16 points in 32 games.

Tonight, all kids in costume may receive a free ticket at the Orleans Arena Box Office the night of the game. The Wranglers are also offering a safe form of trick-or-treating to all costumed kids from 6:30 PM -7:25 PM on the concourse of the Orleans Arena. At the end of the first period, the Wranglers will recognize all kids in costume on the ice. Every child will receive a prize for participation. Throughout the game, the Wranglers will be playing Halloween themed music. Members of the Las Vegas Wranglers staff will also be in costume.

Las Vegas will host Stockton at 7:30 PM tonight at the Orleans Arena. The team will travel to Phoenix for a game with the RoadRunners on Monday, November 2nd at 6:11 PM (PST) at U.S. Airways Center. Las Vegas will return home to host Bakersfield on Friday, November 7th at 7:30 PM and Phoenix on Saturday, November 8th at 7:30 PM.
