LAST WEEK RECAP:

FRIDAY: The Cincinnati Cyclones (2-1-0-0) fell to the Kalamazoo Wings, 3-1, on Friday night in Kalamazoo. Defenseman Garrett Noonan scored the lone goal for the Cyclones, who drop their first game of the season. The Cyclones outshot Kalamazoo, 34-27, on the night, while the power play was held scoreless on all four of its opportunities.

SATURDAY: The Cincinnati Cyclones (3-1-0-0) collected a 5-1 win over the Fort Wayne Komets on Saturday night. Forward Eric Robinson had a pair of goals, while forwards Jack Downing and Zach Budish, and defenseman Mike Ratchuk each chipped in lone tallies. Netminder Brad Thiessen stopped 36-of-the-37 shots he faced to earn his third win of the season. Cincinnati was outshot, 37-20, on the night, while the power play converted on two-of-three chances.

News and Notes:

Defensively Offensive: Cincinnati's defensive corps have been finding the scoresheet early in the season. Cyclones defenseman Garrett Noonan scored his second goal in as many games in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Kalamazoo Wings, while Mike Ratchuk scored his first of the season in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Ft. Wayne Komets. They join defenseman Steve Weinstein who potted his first professional goal on October 24th, in a 4-1 win over this Wings. Overall, the Cincinnati blueline has been responsible for four goals and two assists through the first four games of the season.

The Puck Stops Here: Goaltender Brad Thiessen earned his third win of the season with a 36-save performance in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Ft. Wayne Komets. Thiessen currently leads all ECHL goaltenders with a 0.964 save percentage, and ranks second with a goals-against average of 1.00.

Shaw Makes NHL Debut: For the second straight week, a Cyclone alum has made his National Hockey League (NHL) debut. Former Cyclones forward Logan Shaw debuted for the Florida Panthers on Friday night, logging 10:49 of ice time and dishing out three hits in Florida's 3-1 loss to the Boston Bruins. The 6'3", 204-pound winger skated in 20 games for the Cyclones in November and December of the 2013-2014 season, accounting for eight goals and 10 assists, for 18 total points. He was also an instrumental piece in Cincinnati's run to the Kelly Cup Finals in 2014, accounting for five goals and an assist in 24 playoff games. Shaw was drafted by the Panthers in the third round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He joins former Cyclone Byron Froese (pronounced Frayze), who made his NHL debut on October 24 with the Toronto Maple Leafs, as Cyclones alums to make their NHL debut this season.

Power Supply: For the second time in two weeks, Cincinnati's power play converted twice in a game, going 2-for-3 in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Fort Wayne Komets. After finishing last season with the 25th power play in the ECHL, Cincinnati is now fourth in the League, converting on 26.7% (4-of-15) of man-advantage opportunities.

Leading the Pack: Forwards Jack Downing and Eric Robinson recorded their second multi-point efforts of the season in Saturday's win over Ft. Wayne. Robinson tallied a pair of goals, while Downing chipped in a goal and an assist. Robinson, who has five points (3g, 2a) over his last three games, currently leads the team, and is eighth in the League in rookie scoring with six points (3g, 3a). Downing is second in team scoring, accounting for a pair of goals along with two assists.
