Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release

LAST WEEK'S RECAP

Overall Picture: The Greenville Swamp Rabbits (3-4-0), proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, could not carry their success from a week ago into last weekend's slate and suffered a trio of losses at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena. Forwards Brian Hart (2g) and Jack Combs (1g, 1a) each collected multiple points, but the Swamp Rabbits fell below .500 for the first time since the season opener.

Greenville came out firing Friday and Saturday and built early leads against Atlanta and Evansville, but dropped both contests by a one-goal margin. On Friday, Hart scored just 3:02 into the first period, but the Gladiators responded with three consecutive power-play goals to defeat the Swamp Rabbits 3-2 on SANDLAPPER Securities Rink. Less than 24 hours later, Hart and Combs each drew blood in the first 11 minutes of Saturday's Halloween contest, but the IceMen surged back with a flurry of third-period goals to secure a 3-2 decision.

On Sunday, the Florida Everblades surged into town and handed Greenville its worst loss since the club's relocation to the Upstate in 2010. Between the pipes, Daniel Altshuller made 31 saves to earn his first professional regular-season shutout, while forwards Mike Aviani and Matt Willows each scored twice for the Everblades.

UPCOMING GAMES

Friday, Nov. 6 at Norfolk (2-4-0), 7:30 p.m. ET

Saturday, Nov. 7 at Reading (3-3-0), 7:00 p.m. ET

QUICK SHIFTS

Jack'd Up: Seventh-year forward Jack Combs' league-best 15-game point streak, dating back to last March, came to an end Sunday when the Swamp Rabbits were shut out by Florida. Combs continues to pace Greenville in points (8) and assists (5) this season and now boasts 22 points (10g, 12a) in his last 16 contests overall. A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Combs finished sixth in league scoring with 76 points a year ago, despite playing just 47 ECHL games. He has 384 points in 394 professional games.

On the Road Again: The Swamp Rabbits open a three-game road swing this Friday when they head north to battle a pair of East Division opponents. Greenville will travel to Norfolk, Virginia this Friday for their first meeting with the Admirals. The Swamp Rabbits will then continue north to Reading, Pennsylvania for a pair of games with the Reading Royals on Saturday and Sunday. The Swamp Rabbits are 1-1-0 away from the Bon Secours Wellness Arena this season following a 3-2 overtime victory in North Charleston on October 24. Greenville went 17-15-4 on the road last year.

Keeping it Close: Four of the Swamp Rabbits last five games have been decided by just one goal, with Greenville earning wins in two of those contests. In addition, each of those four games ended in a 3-2 final score. The Swamp Rabbits are 2-0-0 this season when allowing two goals or less, but 1-3-0 when allowing three or more.

News and Notes: Rookie forward Brian Hart has two goals in his last three games... Defenseman Charlie Dodero is tied for the league-lead among defensemen with six minor penalties... The Swamp Rabbits penalty kill is nearly perfect on the road (6-for-7) and is currently 12th in the ECHL.
