WHEELING, West Virginia - A three goal second period helped propel the Cincinnati Cyclones to a 5-4 win over the North Division leading Wheeling Nailers on Saturday night. T.J. McElroy netted a pair of goals, Frederic St. Denis added three assists and Loic Lacasse stopped 18 shots in taking the win.

The game marked the first time the Cyclones wandered into WesBanco Arena, since they left on the wrong side of a 9-7 beating. Tonight was a different story as eleven of the 16 skaters contributed to the scoring in the triumph.

Cincinnati built a 2-1 lead in the first period. Jimmy Kilpatrick netted his eighth goal of the season from the bottom of the right circle at 2:52, as Bryan O'Hanley and Justin Johnson handed out the assists. Wheeling tied the game up at 1-1 when Kelly Miller picked up his third of the campaign on a give-and-go from the slot. T.J. McElroy fired home his sixth score at 10:34 on the power play from Barret Ehgoetz and Frederic St. Denis added the assists. Cincinnati outshot Wheeling, 10-9, in the period.

Cincinnati exploded for three second period goals, to build a 5-2 lead. Ben McLeod got things started with a shorthanded goal just 1:07 into the stanza. Mark Van Guilder and St. Denis dished off the assists. Just 36 seconds later, Wheeling cashed in its powerplay marker to cut the lead to 3-2, as Matt Greenier registered his eighth score of the year. Just past the midway point of the period, McElroy tallied his second of the night and seventh of the year from Paul Lynch and Donnie Grover. A powerplay goal from Ian McKenzie at 15:43, his fourth from Barret Ehgoetz and St. Denis closed the scoring.

Wheeling scored first in the third period as Bryan Ewing netted a score 8:58 in. Andrew Lord made things interesting with his eighth of the campaign at 18:45. A Wheeling powerplay for the final 66 seconds with the netminder made for some tense moments, but the Cyclones held off the Nailers charge and preserved the victory.

Loic Lacasse stopped 18 shots in taking his second win of the season.

The Cyclones are now 13-12-5 on the season, while Wheeling is 18-5-5. Cincinnati plays the final game of its three-in-three on Sunday at Trenton for a 4pm start. The game will be carried on MAX-FM (97.7 and 99.5), as well as on the club's website: www.cycloneshockey.com.
