
Cyclones Strike Quickly In 4-1 Win

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones hoped for a quick start to Friday's game against the Trenton Titans at U.S. Bank Arena. Three goals in a 14 minute span secured that and opened the doors to a 4-1 win. Jason Deitsch and Mathieu Aubin each netted a goal and an assist in the triumph, while goaltender Cedric Desjardins stopped 36 shots.
The Cyclones opened the scoring 2:41 into the first period when Mathieu Aubin fired home his ninth goal from the left point on the power play. Jean-Michel Daoust and Jason Deitsch picked up the assists. The lead extended to 2-0 when Matt Rogers netted his third goal of the campaign, with Scott Reynolds and Jason Goulet added the helpers. Cincinnati pushed the lead out to 3-0, when Reynolds drilled home his tenth score of the season at 16:26, as Conrad Martin and Aubin picked up the assists.
The power play goal by Aubin marked the fifth consecutive game that the Cyclones collected a power play goal.
Trenton got on the scoreboard when Benoit Mondou picked up his 17th goal at 11:16, to cut the lead to 3-1. The Cyclones believed the lead had been opened to 4-1, when Daoust appeared to score the goal, but the tally was not allowed. Cincinnati did officially open a 4-1 edge, when Deitsch added his 24th goal of the season on the power play at 19:34. It was the 13th time this season that the Cyclones scored a goal in the final minute of a period.
There was no scoring in the third period and the final score ended, 4-1, in favor of Cincinnati. The Cyclones outshot the Titans, 45-37, for the game.
Cincinnati is unbeaten in its last four games (3-0-1) and is 5-1-1 in the last seven games. The Cyclones are 11-0-3 in games played at U.S. Bank Arena on weekends since Nov. 18 Cincinnati is now a season-best eleven games above .500 for the season, its best mark since being 15-gmes above break even at the end of the 1995-96 season.
The Cyclones are now 33-22-3-2, leaders of the North Division lead by one point over Dayton. Trenton is 29-26-1-4 on the season and is in fourth place in the North. The Cyclones rfinish the two game set with the Titans at U.S. Bank Arena on Saturday, March 17 at 7:30pm, playing the Trenton Titans. The Cyclones will wear specially designed St. Patrick's Day jerseys for the game.
