Storm Destroy Wheeling For Fourth Consecutive Win

Toledo dominated from the outset chasing starting Wheeling goaltender Andrew Penner (L, 7 saves) 14:12 into the first period. The scoring started 2:48 into the first, when TJ Sakaluk slammed a Bruce Mulherin (A. Martin) pass into the back of the net for his third goal of the season (PP). Chris Blight collected his team leading 21st goal of the year at 9:31 (Jeremy Bronson, Jason Maleyko) scoring on a rebound. At 13:07, PJ. Martin (Matt Zultek, Dan Watson) let a one-timer go from the blue line that beat Penner for his 5th goal of the year (PP). Andrew Martin (Mulherin, Sakaluk) would put the finishing touches on Penner's night with a one-timer from the right circle for his 9th of the season at 14:12.

Andy Franck replaced Penner and was greeted by Dan Watson (Bronson, Jeremy Hall) blasted a slap shot past him at 16:35 for his 3rd goal this season (PP). The scoring was complete at 15:50 of the third period when Mulherin would score on the power play (A. Martin, Sakaluk).

Logan Koopmans collected his second shutout of the season (October 20, 2006 2-0 over Dayton) stopping all 27 of the shots he faced. Logan is 4-1-0 since returning to the Storm with a stellar 1.80 goals against average and a .946 save percentage. Franck finished with 22 saves. Toledo's power play ended the night 4 for 11, the third time this season the Storm have collected 4 power play goals in a game (11/24 vs. Dayton and 12/27 vs. Johnstown).
