Bakersfield Nips RoadRunners 4-3

PHOENIX, Ariz. - Alexandre Bolduc tallied a pair of goals and the Bakersfield Condors withstood a late rally to hold off the Phoenix RoadRunners 4-3 before a crowd of 3,244 at US Airways Center in ECHL action Thursday.

Bakersfield (38-13-10) opened the scoring at 13:28 of the first period on a five-on-three power play goal. Bolduc netted his sixth of the season beating RoadRunners goaltender Mike Morrison from the slot to give the Condors a 1-0 lead. The RoadRunners (25-32-5) came back to tie the score at the end of the period as Olivier Latendresse pounced on the loose puck in front of the net and flipped it behind Bakersfield goalie Rejean Beauchemin at 19:04.

Alex Rogosheske regained the lead for Bakersfield when he beat Morrison with a slap shot from the right point at 5:43 of the second period. Bolduc tallied his second of the game beating Morrison to the short side at 9:26 to extend the Condors advantage to 3-1 and end Morrison's night in the net.

Sean Venedam scored on the power play at 1:48 of the third period to build the Condors lead to 4-1. The RoadRunners fought back with a pair of goals from Todd Jackson and Justin Aikins at 2:30 and 13:10 on the power play respectively, but could not tally the equalizer.

Phoenix out-shot Bakersfield 37-32. Cody Rudkowsky stopped 11 of 12 shots in relief of Morrison but took the loss to fall to 8-15-2 on the season. The RoadRunners went 1-6 on the power play while Bakersfield was 2-12 with the man-advantage.

Notes: Latendresse's goal ended a scoreless streak of 150:28 seconds dating back to the 8:36 mark of the third period on March 6...Phoenix faced four five-on-three shorthanded situations in the first period and killed off three of them......Aikins' power play goal snapped an 0-20 stretch on the man-advantage...The RoadRunners maintained a six point lead over the Utah Grizzlies for the #8 seed in the National Conference playoff race. Utah lost 6-3 at Victoria.

The RoadRunners travel to the Orleans Arena at 7:05 p.m. Friday to open a home-and-home series with the Las Vegas Wranglers.

Phoenix returns to US Airways Center at 7:11 p.m. Saturday to conclude the series with Las Vegas. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Following the game, the RoadRunners will hold a special live auction inside the Toyota Club for their game-worn "St. Patrick's Day" themed jerseys. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Phoenix Children's Hospital and Caps for Kids as part of the "Face-Off Against Kids Cancer" program.
