Chad Painchaud posted his 21st goal of the season late in the third period to help the Gladiators past the Pensacola Ice Pilots 3-2 on Friday night at the Pensacola Civic Center. Gwinnett improves to 36-19-7 on the season with the win.

Gwinnett took a 1-0 lead on the Ice Pilots late in the first period. Jamie Milam posted his 21st goal of the season ripping a slap shot past Pensacola netminder Evan Lindsay at the 17:41 mark of the first period.

Pensacola equalized the contest in the second period as Erik Johnson banked the puck off Gladiators netminder Dave Caruso for the marker. Johnson finished a 2-on-1 break to post the goal shorthanded at the 16:13 mark of the second period. Jarred Mohr had an assist on the goal for the Ice Pilots. Nikkita Korovkin had an assist on the goal for Pensacola.

Jon Awe recorded his 18th power play goal of the season to give the Gladiators a 2-1 lead on the Ice Pilots at the 10:36 mark of the third period. Awe ripped a one time slap shot past Lindsay off a feed from Joel Stepp. Brad Schell also had an assist on the goal to push his point scoring streak to 16 consecutive games.

Pensacola tied the game up at two as John Hecimovic was able to take a centering pass and stuff the puck past Caruso for the marker. Torry Gajda collected an assist on the goal at the 14:26 mark of the third period.

Gwinnett regained the lead on Painchaud's 21st goal of the season. Collecting a rebound in the right wing slot, Painchaud flipped the puck past Lindsay for the marker at the 17:03 mark of the third period. Matt York and Stepp posted the assists on the game-winning goal for Gwinnett.

Dave Caruso collected 27 saves in the win to help the Gladiators to the win. Gwinnett posted two goals on the power play in the win while keeping the Ice Pilots off the board on the man advantage on the contest.
