Florida Everblades News Release
ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Gerry Fleming announced today that defenseman Bret Nasby has been activated off the 7-day injured reserve list and that forward Brent McDonald has been placed on the 3-day IR. To make room on the 3-day IR goaltender David Shantz has been moved to the 30-day IR.
Nasby returns to the lineup after missing the last 17 games. The 21-year-old has seen action in 26 games with the Everblades this season and has registered four points (1g, 3a) 14 penalty minutes. The rookie blue-liner finished off a three year junior career last season by splitting time between Oshawa and Erie of the Ontario Hockey League. In his three junior seasons the Grismby, Ontario native tallied 55 points (13g, 42a) in 174 career games.
McDonald heads to the IR after suffering an injury in Florida's 5-2 loss to South Carolina on March 14. The 27-year-old has picked up 34 points (14g, 20a) in 39 games this season. The native of Olds, Alberta earlier this season became the Everblades all-time leader in games played when he skated in his 289th game in a Florida uniform on December 8.
The Florida Everblades, proud affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes and the Florida Panthers, return to the ice tonight when they take on the South Carolina Stingrays at 7:05 p.m. from the North Charleston Coliseum.
