CONEY ISLAND, NY - David Griffin tossed six scoreless innings in the nightcap of a doubleheader split as the Brooklyn Cyclones, the High-A affiliate of the New York Mets, defeated Aberdeen 1-0 in game two after falling 2-1 in eight innings in game one Wednesday at Maimonides Park.

KEY PLAYS
In the top of the eighth inning, the first inning of extra frames, Aberdeen played small ball to cross a run and take a 2-1 lead. Christopher Cespedes started at second, moved to third on a sac bunt, and scored on a sac fly. Brooklyn stranded a runner at third in the bottom of the eighth.
Mets No. 2 pitching prospect J.T. Ginn tossed five innings, allowing one run in the second on an RBI groundout by Maverick Handley. Overall, Ginn scattered seven hits, striking out four and walking one.
Jaylen Palmer cracked a solo home run down the left field line in the bottom of the first inning to give the Cyclones a 1-0 lead. The ball traveled 364 feet over the wall, scorching off the bat at 103 mph.

David Griffin shut out the Aberdeen IronBirds for six innings, allowing five scattered hits with six strikeouts in his first Brooklyn victory.
Brooklyn backed starter David Griffin with a run when Jaylen Palmer walked, stole second, and scored on Jeremy Vasquez's opposite-field RBI single against IronBirds starter Connor Gillispie.
Bryce Montes de Oca danced around a two-out single to post a scoreless seventh inning and earn the save.

Jaylen Palmer cracked his first High-A home run, sending it over the left field wall in game one.
David Griffin, who made two starts for Brooklyn in Wilmington, made his Maimonides Park debut in game two.
Mets righthander Noah Syndergaard will make a rehab appearance Thursday with the Cyclones. Syndergaard has not pitched in the majors since September of 2019 and underwent Tommy John surgery in March 2020.
