
Greenville Walks-Off in 11th for 5-4 Victory

Greenville, S.C. - With the bases loaded in the bottom of the 11th in a 4-4 tie, Stephen Scott grounded out to the pitcher and drove in Tyler Dearden for the winning run to claim a 5-4 victory Wednesday night at Fluor Field.
In the bottom of the 11th inning, and a runner placed on second, Dearden was hit-by-pitch to lead off. Brandon Howlett then lined an RBI single to left. After a flyout, Jaxx Groshans loaded the bases on an error by the shortstop. That brought up Scott who hit a dribbler down the first base line for the winning run.
For the night Greenville combined for eight hits, one double, one triple and two homers. Nick Yorke, Brandon Howlett and Stephen Scott all tallied two hits. Yorke blasted his first homer in a Drive uniform. Scott collected his sixth homer as well as a triple. Both Yorke and Scott drove in two. Howlett laced two singles and an RBI.
Brendan Nail earned the win. He tossed 1.0 innings and relented a run, unearned, on one hit with one strikeout. Jake Wallace was charged with a blown save.
Yusniel Padron-Artiles did not factor into the decision. He allowed just one run, unearned, on one hit and two walks with eight punchouts, tying a season high.
Trey Hair took the loss after allowing two runs in the bottom of the 11th inning.
The Crawdads took a 1-0 lead in the third on a Trevor Hauver RBI single, it was an unearned run.
Hickory added to its lead, 2-0, in the seventh inning with a Konnor Piotto RBI single.
Greenville then took a 3-2 lead in the eighth inning. Scott led off the frame with his sixth homer of the year. After an out, Brannen reached via an error. That brought up Yorke who blasted a 449 ft. two-run shot. It left the bat at 107 MPH.
However, the Crawdads tied it, 3-3, in the ninth inning on a Piotto RBI double.
Both the Drive and the Crawdads were held scoreless in the 10th inning.
In the top of the 11th, Frainyer Chavez put Hickory ahead, 4-3, with an RBI single.
Then Howlett and Scott gave the Drive a 5-4 victory.
Game three is set for 7:05 PM Thursday night at Fluor Field. The Drive are set to throw Chase Shugart. Hickory is scheduled to throw Seth Nordlin.
