
Cyclones Receive Defenseman Rory Rawlyk

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL, announced Tuesday (March 27) that they have received defenseman Rory Rawlyk from the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League (AHL). Rawlyk is expected to practice with the team this week and be ready for the Cyclones games in Wheeling this weekend (March 30 and 31).
Rawlyk, 23, appeared in 27 games with Binghamton after being signed by Binghamton on Jan. 6. He collected one goal and six assists for seven points during that stretch. Rory played in 21 games with the Cyclones prior to signing with the Senators, collecting four goals and twelve assists for 16 points. He was signed by Cincinnati on Dec. 1 after he appeared in 14 games to start the season with Bofors IK in the Allsvenskan Division of the Sweden Elite League (SE). He scored two goals and added a pair of assists for four points and 44 penalty minutes.
Last season (2005-06), Rawlyk played with Charlotte (ECHL) and tallied twelve goals and 28 assists for 40 points and 91 penalty minutes. His season was highlighted by being selected to the ECHL All-Star Game and was named a starter in the contest. Rawlyk recorded a pair of assists in the 7-6 loss by the American Conference All-Stars.
Rawlyk is in his fourth season as a professional, the first three with Charlotte (ECHL) and has also had nine games of experience with Hartford (AHL)-making trips to that club in each of his first three seasons.
The Cyclones will return to U.S. Bank Arena after a four game road trip, for a Thursday (April 5) tilt with Dayton at 7:30pm.
