Stockton drew first blood 9:20 into the opening period. Liam Reddox fed a pass through the crease for Nathan Martz in the left-wing circle and he flipped a shot past Scott Stirling for his eighth goal of the season.
Fresno pulled even at 16:51. Brett Hammond won a face-off in the right-wing circle back to P.O. Beaulieu, and he beat Devan Dubnyk with a long shot from the point for his fifth of the year.
The Falcons took a 2-1 lead at 18:57 as Rob McFeeters sprung Cory Murphy into the Stockton zone on a 2-on-1 rush, and Murphy snapped a shot past Dubnyk for his 12th goal of the season.
Stockton went back on top, scoring a pair of goals in the first 4:09 of the second period. Brock Radunske tied the game at the 1:48 mark, tipping a Tim O'Connell shot from the blue line past Stirling. Brian Lee gave the Thunder the 3-2 lead through two periods, beating Stirling with a long wrist shot from the center of the blue line.
Radunske extended the Stockton lead to 4-2 at the 6:40 mark of the third period, stuffing a shot home on the near post.
Tim Verbeek scored into an empty net with 1:34 remaining to set the final.
