Maine Mariners News Release
PORTLAND, ME - The Mariners blue-line shuffle continued on Saturday as defenseman Ryan Culkin was recalled to the AHL's Laval Rocket for the second time this season. Culkin is under contract with the Rocket and has played in three games for them so far.
The 25-year-old fifth year pro from Montreal leads all Mariners defensemen in scoring with 22 points (2 goals, 20 assists), putting him on pace for a career best offensive season. Culkin was initially called up to Laval on November 22nd. He appeared in three games, scoring one goal. On December 10th, he was reassigned to Maine.
Culkin was drafted by the Calgary Flames in the fifth round of the 2012 NHL Draft. He's played 137 career ECHL games and 86 career AHL games. The Mariners now have three of their opening night defense core in the AHL with Scott Savage in Milwaukee and Zach Tolkinen in Hartford.
