GENEVA, IL - The Kane County Cougars, in conjunction with the Chicago Cubs, have announced that Cubs pitcher Matt Garza will make a rehab start for Kane County at this Friday's 6:30 p.m. game at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark in Geneva. Tickets are available for Friday's game at kccougars.com or by calling the Cougars box office at (630) 232-8811 beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Garza was placed on the disabled list during spring training with a left lat strain and has yet to appear in a major league game this season. The right-hander has spent three seasons with the Cubs and has won 57 games during his major league career, which began in 2006 when Garza made the jump from Single-A to the major leagues with Minnesota. In 2010, Garza threw the first no-hitter in Tampa Bay Rays history and won 15 games that season. A portion of Garza's first professional season in 2005 took place in the Midwest League where he pitched for Beloit, a Twins affiliate at the time.
