Crawford Promoted to Stone Crabs, Hot Rods Receive Ramsey
April 16, 2013 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release
Midland, MI - The Tampa Bay Rays have officially announced the promotion of LHP Shay Crawford from the Bowling Green Hot Rods to the Advanced-A Charlotte Stone Crabs of the Florida State League. In a corresponding move, the Hot Rods receive RHP Matt Ramsey from Extended Spring Training. These moves leave the Hot Rods 25-man roster at its full capacity.
Crawford did not allow a run in three relief outings with the Hot Rods this season and picked up the win in his final appearance before the promotion in game one of a doubleheader last Friday night in Bowling Green against West Michigan.
Ramsey is a Lenoir City, TN, native and played his college ball at the University of Tennessee. The Rays signed the right-hander as a free agent in August of 2011, and he made his professional debut in 2012 with the GCL Rays, going 2-1 with a 1.98 ERA in 11 appearances.
Bowling Green Ballpark will host Hot Rods baseball again on Monday, April 22, for the first game of a three-game set with the Fort Wayne TinCaps. The nine-game homestand, the longest of the season, includes a Thrifty Thursday/College Night, a Team Magnet Schedule Giveaway presented by First Choice Home Medical, Postgame Fireworks presented by WBKO, the first Faith and Family Night of the season, and much more.
