
Captains Slay Dragons 10-4

Lake County Captains News Release
(Eastlake, OH) - The Lake County Captains (3-7) scored a season high ten runs to defeat the Dayton Dragons (3-8) by a final of 10-4 on Tuesday Night at Classic Park. The Captains jumped out early in the first inning to a 1-0 lead. Luigi Rodriguez singled and moved to second base on the first of seven Dragons wild pitches. Later, Rodriguez scampered home on the single by Leonardo Castillo.
Dayton took the lead on a two run homer by Junior Arias in the top of the second inning. The 2-1 lead didn't last long as the Captains offense exploded in the third, fourth and fifth innings. In those three innings the Captains scored a total of eight runs and took command of the ballgame by a score of 9-4.
Four Captains had multi hit games including Luigi Rodriguez, Dorssys Paulino, Leonardo Castillo, and Logan Vick. Castillo and Erik Gonzalez each knocked in two. Lake County tied a season high in hits with fourteen. The Captains added a run in the bottom of the sixth inning when Nellie Rodriguez walked and then scored on a single by Logan Vick. The score was 10-4. That turned out to be the final.
Luis Dejesus (0-1) started for the Captains and did not get a decision. Dejesus lasted four and two thirds innings allowing six hits, four earned runs, and four strikeouts. Josh Martin (1-1) got the win for the Captains. Martin pitched two and one third scoreless innings allowing one hit and one strikeout. Francisco Valera and Felix Sterling each pitched a scoreless inning for the Captains in relief.
Wandy Peralta (0-2) started for Dayton and took the loss. Peralta pitched three and two thirds innings and allowed eight hits, six runs, five earned runs, two walks and he did manage to strike out two hitters. The Dayton bullpen pitched four and one third innings allowing six hits and four runs.
The Captains and Dragons will play game two of a three game set on Wednesday Night. The Captains will send LHP Ryan Merritt (0-2, 2.00) to the mound and he will face LHP Ismael Guillon (0-1, 4.91) of the Dragons. First pitch is at 6:30 PM at Classic Park
