Fans to Vote for All-Time Whitecaps Team as Part of 20th Season Festivities

COMSTOCK PARK, MI - The West Michigan Whitecaps are celebrating their 20th season this year, and as part of the festivities, the team is asking fans to build an all-time Whitecaps team.
Fans are asked to vote online at www.whitecapsbaseball.com. The top vote-getters (three starting pitchers, two relievers, one player at each position and one manager) will be named to the Whitecaps' 20th season team. A trading card set of this team will be produced and given away to fans at the Wednesday August 28th game.
The nominees for the Whitecaps' 20th season team are as follows:
Starting Pitcher: Burke Badenhop, Duane Below, Dave Borkowski, Clay Bruner, Calvin Chipperfield, Jon Connolly, Casey Crosby, Alfredo Figaro, Jair Jurrjens, Jon Kibler, Andy Van Hekken, Joel Zumaya.
Relief Pitcher: John Birtwell, Jose Castillo, Anthony Claggett, Ed Clelland, Francisco Cordero, Bob Kazmirski, Mike Kobow, Matthew Rusch, Bill Snyder, Michael Torrealba, Greg Watson.
Catcher: Alex Avila, Rob Brantly, Ramon Hernandez, Brandon Inge, James Skelton.
First Base: Antwan Bunkley, Robert Fick, Kelly Hunt, Ryan Strieby, Juan Tejeda.

As part of the year-long 20th season celebration, five dates have been designated to celebrate each of the team's five championship seasons: June 5 (1996 Championship), June 28 (1998 Championship), July 13 (2004 Championship), August 14 (2006 Championship) and August 24 (2007 Championship). In addition, the team's advertising campaign, signage around the ballpark and daily video board and public address tidbits will feature the 20th season.
The Whitecaps' next homestand begins Friday, April 19 at 6:35 p.m. against the South Bend Silver Hawks, which is the start of the team's week-long Dollar Days promotion that features a $1.00 special for each game during the series. The teams play on Saturday and Sunday, April 20 and 21, at 1 p.m., then the Lake County Captains come to town for a three-game set against the Whitecaps starting on Monday, April 22 (game times at 6:35 Monday and noon on Tuesday and Wednesday).
