Chiefs Rally Past Bees Tuesday Night

Peoria, IL - The Peoria Chiefs scored four runs in the fourth inning en route to a 7-5 win against the Burlington Bees on Tuesday night. The win snapped the Chiefs season long three-game losing streak and bumped their record to 5-6 with four games left on the homestand.
The Chiefs got off to an inauspicious start as the Bees scored two runs in the first inning against Joe Cuda. Sherman Johnson reached on a Ildemaro Vargas error, while Anthony Bemboom and Wade Hinkle both walked to load the bases with one out. Andrew Ray, who had two hits Monday night, drove in Johnson and Bemboom giving the Bees an early 2-0 lead.
Burlington added to their total with a pair of runs in the second frame. With Sherman Johnson on third, Patrick Wisdom misplayed a Bemboom ground ball scoring the runner. Two batters later, Ray cracked his fifth double of the year, plating Bemboom for a 4-0 Bees lead
The Chiefs scratched across a run in the third inning. Nick Martini singled to lead off the frame, and advanced to second on a balk. Charlie Tilson moved Martini to third on a groundout to second, and the Chiefs' baserunner scored on wild pitched by Reid Scoggins.
The fourth inning was kind to the Chiefs as they knocked in four runs. With one out, Breyvic Valera singled off new pitcher Garrett Baker. After Jordan Walton singled and Wisdom walked, Jacob Wilson singled scoring Valera and Walton. Two batters later, Tilson singled home Wisdom to tie the game. The Chiefs added one more run in the inning on a wild pitch by reliever Kurt Spomer, to take a 5-4 lead.
The Bees quickly tied the game on a Ray solo home run in the top of the fifth, but Peoria responded with a run of their own. Vargas started the inning with his first triple of the season. With one out Valera put the Chiefs back on top 6-5 with a single to left.
Peoria added an insurance run in the eighth without getting a hit. Martini reached on a throwing error by shortstop Wendell Soto and stole second. With one out, Martini stole third and came home to score with Bemboom's throw bounced off him and into foul territory. Dixon Llorens came on for the ninth and retired the Bees in order to preserve the 7-5 win.
Joe Cuda allowed four runs- one earned- on five hits and two innings pitched. Michael Aldrete (1-0) earned the win in relief, pitching three innings, striking out one while allowing only one run. Joe Scanio tossed three scoreless innings striking out two, and Llorens recorded the save striking out one in a scoreless ninth.
