Iowa Cubs News Release

Des Moines, IA - The Chicago Cubs re-assigned RHP Nick Struck to double-A Tennessee and promoted LHP Zach Rosscup from the Smokies to Iowa today.

In 37 games with Tennessee, Rosscup was 2-1 with a 2.49 ERA (12ER/43.1IP) and three saves. He struck out 66 while walking just 19. He allowed just three earned runs in 22.2 innings for a 1.19 ERA in his first 17 games through April and May. The Cubs acquired Rosscup from the Tampa Bay Rays along with Matt Garza and OF Fernando Perez in January, 2011 for Chris Archer, Robinson Chirinos, Hak-Ju Lee, Sam Fuld, and Brandon Guyer. The Rays drafted Rosscup in the 28th round of the 2009 draft out of Chemeketa Community College in Salem, Oregon.

Struck is 6-8 with a 6.17 ERA (75ER/109.1IP) in 22 games (20 starts) with Iowa this season. He ranks third in the Pacific Coast League with 54 walks and fourth with 17 home runs allowed.

The Iowa Cubs have recorded 149 transactions this season and are well on pace to break the franchise record of 153 set last season when 59 different players wore an Iowa uniform. When he makes his first appearance, Rosscup will be the 61st different player to appear in a game for Iowa this season.
