Zephyrs Pound Three Homers in 7-4 Win in Tucson

TUCSON, AZ - The New Orleans Zephyrs opened a eight game road-trip with three home runs and defeated the Tucson Padres 7-4 at Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium. The Zephyrs have won four consecutive.

Bryan Petersen drilled a first inning two run home run to start the scoring. Nick Green drilled a solo smash in the second inning. Kevin Kouzmanoff hammered a two run home run in the fourth inning as the Z's jumped to a 7-0 lead.

The Zephyrs used four pitchers in a bull-pen game and Robert Morey was credited with the win working three innings, allowing two runs. Former Zephyr outfielder Jason Lane was the starting pitcher for Tucson and scattered 11 hits allowing seven runs in the defeat.

Tucson scored two in the fourth with a pair of home runs and added two more runs in the ninth.

The Zephyrs (60-59) have won seven of their last nine contests.

Game Notes - The Zephyrs have homered in 18 of their last 23 games.... New Orleans is now 49-0 when leading after eight innings, one of three teams in the PCL without a loss. The Z's improved to 46-16 when scoring first. The Padres wore their throw-back uniforms from the 1980's when the team was called the Toros.
