Florence Y'alls News Release
AVON, OH - The Lake Erie Crushers jumped on the Florence Freedom early with four runs in the first inning and went on to win 8-0 Sunday night at All Pro Freight Stadium.
Behind left hander Keven Skogley's (3-1) complete game shutout, the Crushers took two of three from the Freedom. Skogley struck out 10 and allowed only five hits over his nine innings of work.
Julio Soriano (0-3) made the start for the Freedom and failed to make it out of the first inning. The right-hander walked the first batter he faced and the next three Crushers all recorded hits and scored to make it 4-0.
Arden McWilliams took Freedom reliever Jordan Towns out for a three run homer in the fifth to conclude the scoring and make it 8-0.
No Freedom had more than one hit and Tim Grogan had the only extra base hit off Skogley. Grogan doubled in the ninth inning.
The Freedom (21-20) are now 3-3 on their nine game road trip and will travel to Evansville on Tuesday night to take on the Otters after the day off on Monday. Follow the team while away from Champion Window Field on Classic Country 106.7 WNKR and 1067WNKR.com.
