Traverse City Beach Bums News Release

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. - The Frontier League announced the All-Star roster on Sunday afternoon and two Beach Bums were among the choices.

Brett Bostelman and Jeff Williams were both selected to the East Division squad. Both have been staples on the pitching staff for the Beach Bums this season and both are in their third season with Traverse City but will make their first All-Star appearance.

Bostelman owns a 5-1 record on the season to go with an ERA of 1.95, the third best in the league. He began the season 5-0 and was atop the leaderboard for most of the start of the season in both wins and ERA.

He threw six shutout innings in his first start at Kalamazoo on May 23 and also threw six shutout frames in his third start at Southern Illinois. He struck out a career high seven in a win at Washington on June 9. Bostelman has thrown 50.2 innings in his nine starts to go with 28 strikeouts. A native of Napoleon, Ohio, Bostleman was initially signed by the Beach Bums out of the team's open tryout in 2007.

Williams was added at the end of spring training in 2007 and set a team record for saves last year. This season, he leads the Frontier League with 10 saves in his 17 appearances. Three times he has posted the last five outs of a contest, leaving the tying runs on base in the eighth. He has pitched in 18 games and has not allowed a run over the last 12.1 innings of work. His ERA sits at 0.98 entering play on Sunday, when he threw a scoreless frame.

Three more players will be added to the All-Star roster from each team by the manager of each All-Star squad later this week.

Rockford will host the All-Star Game at Road Ranger Stadium on July 15. The festivities will begin on July 14 with the homerun derby and a Cubs-White Sox Legends game.
