Crunch Fall to the Devils in the Final Minutes of Play

Syracuse, N.Y. - The Syracuse Crunch fell to the Albany Devil, 3-1, in the final minutes tonight at the War Memorial Arena.

Both the Crunch and Devils went scoreless in the first period, despite both teams having power-play opportunities. Syracuse outshot the Devils 15-8 in the opening frame.

Peter Holland opened the scoring at the 11:12 mark of the second period. Kyle Palmieri passed the puck to Holland at the top of the crease,who was able to one-time it past Albany goaltender Keith Kindaid for a 1-0 lead. It was the rookie's 18th goal of the season.

Albany pulled even with 4:31 remaining in the second period thanks to a 5-on-3 power-play goal from Eric Gellinas. Gellinas' wrister from the point beat Crunch netminder Iiro Tarkki stick side for the score.

Mattias Tedenby capitalized on a Riley Holzapfel hooking penalty with 1:26 remaining in regulation to put the Devils up 2-1. Vladimir Zharkov added an empty net goal to secure the Devils win.
