Rochester Americans Sign Gongalsky to AHL Contract

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans announced today that the team has signed forward Igor Gongalsky to an American Hockey League contract. Gongalsky joined the Amerks on a professional tryout on Dec. 21, 2011.

Gongalsky, 25, has appeared in 20 games with the Amerks this season, recording two goals, one assist and 28 penalty minutes. Earlier this year, he played in 13 games with the AHL's Portland Pirates, where he collected one assist and 29 penalty minutes. He has also played in three games with the Gwinnett Gladiators (ECHL) this season.

The 6-foot, 225-pound Gongalsky has appeared in 93 career AHL games with San Antonio, Portland and Rochester, recording 14 points (6+8) and 161 penalty minutes. In 181 career ECHL games with Fresno, Stockton, Greenville and Gwinnett, the native of Kiev, Ukraine, has collected 109 points (44+65) and 369 penalty minutes.
