June 27, 2019 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Reno Aces News Release
Salt Lake City, UTAH - The Aces rallied from behind to beat the Salt Lake Bees Wednesday night by a score of 6-4. The go-ahead blow came in the top of the ninth inning off the bat of Pacific Coast League All-Star, Kevin Cron, on a two-run homer to left. The blast was his PCL leading 24th of the year. RBIs from Jarrett Parker, Ryan Scott, and Kaleb Cowart helped Salt Lake jump out to a 4-0 lead by the sixth. Reno then turned on the switch and scored six unanswered runs to take the lead and ultimately the ballgame. In the top of the sixth, Kevin Cron scored on a throwing error and Cody Decker used the second chance to bring in another run on a fielder's choice. In the seventh, Abraham Almonte hit his 11th home run of the year to cut the deficit to one. A few batters later, with the bases loaded, Wyatt Mathisen was hit by a pitch to bring in the game-tying run and knot the score at four.
Braden Shipley started the game and turned in a respectable outing going five innings allowing four earned runs on eight hits, four walks and eight strikeouts. The bullpen was solid holding the Bees scoreless over four innings while allowing just two hits. Lucas Luetge picked up the win throwing a scoreless eighth in relief. PCL All-Star Jimmie Sherfy earned his 12th save of the season by striking out the side in the ninth. Reno will take on Salt Lake in game three of the series tomorrow night at 6:05 p.m. PT with righty Bradin Hagens scheduled to make his first start of the season for the Aces.
