Aces Late Rally Takes Down Bees

The Reno Aces used a late rally to down the Salt Lake Bees 6-4 on Wednesday night.

Jose Suarez got the start for the Bees, going five and one-thirds innings and allowing two runs (none earned) on two hits while striking out eight batters.

In the first four frames, Suarez struck out seven batters and only allowed one hit. In the bottom of the fourth, Jarrett Parker put the Bees on the board first with a solo home run and Ryan Scott drove in a run on a RBI-single to give Salt Lake a 2-0 lead. Salt Lake tacked on two more runs in the fifth inning with an RBI-single and a sacrifice fly to take a four-run lead. Jason Alexander (0-1) came in the sixth to relieve Suarez and was tagged with the loss in his season debut. The Aces were able to score six unanswered runs to spoil the Bees lead. Alexander allowed two inherited runners to score in the sixth frame and surrendered two more runs in the next inning with the game being knotted at 4-4. In the top of the ninth, Alexander gave up a two-run home run to Kevin Cron which capped off Reno's rally.

Jarrett Parker led the Bees bats after going 2-for-4 with two RBI and a solo homer. Parker has collected 19 home runs this season and now has homered in seven of his last eight games. With a double tonight, Kaleb Cowart moved to fourth in franchise history in career doubles, tying Brian Raabe at 97.

Thursday night at Smith's Ballpark is Thirsty Thursday and Friday night is Utah Jazz Night at Smith's Ballpark. First pitch for both games is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
