
Coyotes Recall Boedker, Orpik Joins Rampage

SAN ANTONIO (November 27, 2009) - Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have recalled forward Mikkel Boedker from their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage. In addition, the Rampage have recalled forward Andrew Orpik from the Las Vegas Wranglers (ECHL).
Boedker, 19, has appeared in six games for the Coyotes this season. He has also registered 2 goals and three assists in 12 games with San Antonio. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound forward recorded 28 points (11 goals, 17 assists) and 18 penalty minutes (PIM) in 78 games with Phoenix during the 2008-09 season. As a rookie, Boedker ranked 9th on the team overall in scoring while leading all Coyotes rookies in goals, assists, points, games played, shots (116), average time on ice (15:32) and T-2nd among all NHL rookies in game-winning goals (3).
Boedker has appeared in 84 career NHL games, recording 28 points (11 goals, 17 assists) and 18 PIM. He was named the OHL's Western Conference Best Skater while appearing in 62 games for the Kitchener Rangers (OHL) during the 2007-08 season, recording 73 points (29 goals, 44 assists) and 14 PIM. Boedker was Phoenix's 1st choice (1st round, 8th overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Orpik, 23, has appeared in 17 games with the Wranglers, posting six goals and four assists this season. He enters his rookie season and looks to make his AHL debut tomorrow.
Orpik, a native of East Amherst, NY, attended Boston College (NCAA) where he amassed 47 points (18 goals, 29 assists) in 155 games and tacked on 145 penalty minutes over his four-year collegiate career as an Eagle. He was selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the seventh round (227th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
The Rampage host the Milwaukee Admirals tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center for a special Pucks and Paws event in which fans are encouraged to bring their dog to the game.
